Geography

Geography Vision

We want children to not only develop an understanding of the area, and indeed the world, in which they live but also to embed a life-long interest and sense of responsibility for their environment. Children should have an understanding of where they live within the world and how this affects their lifestyle and surroundings and how this compares to others in other countries. We want pupils to have the skills necessary to explore the world for themselves – for example reading both traditional and digital maps, collecting and processing data and to encourage their natural curiosity to explore and discover.

History and Geography Leader - Ellie Sheen

Having studied Geography to AS Level, I’m thrilled to be taking on this subject from September 2023. I’ve always been fascinated with human and physical Geography equally and have fond memories of undertaking fieldwork whilst at school myself. Whether that was counting pedestrians on a local high street in primary school or measuring the speed and depth of a river for GCSE coursework; these are the moments I remember the most.

I love that Geography is in everything we do. I believe that by equipping the children with the resources, skills and experiences, we are providing them with a life-long love of the world around them. It encourages them to explore and understand the area in which they live but also to develop an interest in the wider world and what it has to offer.

Geography sparks their natural curiosity and I can’t wait to continue the passion that already exists for the subject within the school.
