Computing Vision
As computing and artificial intelligence (AI) become an increasingly significant part of everyday life, it is essential that all children develop the confidence, knowledge and skills they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving technological world. We aim to prepare our children not only to use technology and AI successfully, both in and beyond the classroom, but also to understand how these technologies work and the impact they have on society.
Our computing curriculum enables children to find, explore, analyse, exchange and present information using a range of digital tools, including age-appropriate applications of artificial intelligence. We place a strong emphasis on developing the critical thinking skills needed to use technology and AI safely, effectively and responsibly, helping children to evaluate information, recognise risks and make informed choices.
Computing and digital literacy skills, including an understanding of artificial intelligence, are key to enabling children to become confident, creative and independent learners who are well prepared for the opportunities and challenges of the future.
Computing Lead: Heather Libby
I am delighted to be taking on the role of Computing Leader, succeeding Laura Collard, and look forward to building on the strong foundations already in place. In a world where technology is becoming increasingly vital, it is more important than ever that our children are equipped with the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to thrive in the future.
Having previously held the role of Computing Leader in previous schools, I bring with me a wealth of experience, enthusiasm and a clear understanding of the importance of computing in education. I am particularly passionate about ensuring that children not only learn how to use technology effectively but also understand how it works and how it shapes the world around them.
The rapid growth of artificial intelligence (AI) presents exciting opportunities and challenges, and I believe it is essential that our pupils develop an awareness of AI and learn how to use it safely, responsibly and creatively. My aim is to inspire children to become confident digital citizens, critical thinkers and innovative problem-solvers, preparing them for a future in which computing and artificial intelligence will play an increasingly significant role in everyday life and future careers.
