At West Byfleet Junior School we care about our environment. We are all responsible for taking care of our school. We have appointed Eco Monitors, who are:
Lewis Harrington (Holly)
Bethany Easterman (Holly)
Maddie Taylor (Laurel)
Esme Rush (Laurel)
Katie Rutherford (Rowan)
Abby Robinson (Willow)
Eliza Mills (Birch)
Matthew Heywood (Larch)
Rory Cracroft (Maple)
Freddie Good (Elm)

The Eco Monitors have done their first whole school assembly where they shared their aims for sustainability with the rest of the school. They highlighted the importance of awareness and making changes today which will affect tomorrow. They came up with top tips and set the school a challenge to use 1500 kwh of electricity a week. During Friday assemblies, the Eco Monitors will take it in turns to remind the children of the target and let them know what our electricity count is for that week. They will also suggest ways to lower the readings for the next week.

The Eco monitors have their own information board by the Reading room and it is used to present any news/current events, our electricity readings for the week and tips on how to lower our readings. Our next step is to involve the rest of the school by setting up an 'Eco Top Tips' box which will be used by all children if they wish to contribute an eco tip to the school newsletter. We will also be thinking of ways to remind children and adults to make the little changes around school (signs on doors, windows and sockets.)
