Autumn Term Clubs 2009

11 September 2009

Re: AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS – AUTUMN TERM 2009

Once again we are delighted to offer a range of clubs for your child to attend during the autumn term. As usual there are external clubs on offer as well as school clubs run on a voluntary basis by the teachers and our staff. Many thanks to all of them for their wonderful support. We believe it is an important additional learning opportunity for children and actively encourage you to talk with your child about the many opportunities that are available. If any parents would like to assist as volunteers with any club, please contact the office.

Our main priority in providing a range of after school clubs is to ensure, wherever possible, children have the opportunity to enjoy two school run (non-paying) clubs. Therefore due to the popularity of after school clubs normally and limited numbers of places available, we will aim to secure at least two school clubs per child. Obviously in the event of additional places being available further clubs may be allocated to children. To ensure that we can provide maximum opportunity for all our children, applications will not be on a first come, first serve basis.

Once your child has been accepted in a club, we would encourage your child to make a commitment to the club for the whole term.
If a child cannot attend a club one week, please let the teacher in charge know as a register is always maintained.

From time to time it will be necessary to cancel a club due to unforeseen circumstances; we will endeavour to inform you as soon as possible if this event arises, by text message, memo or in the newsletter.

In the case of outdoor clubs and bad weather, we make a decision as to whether the club will go ahead at 2.30pm. In the event of bad weather, please contact the office after 2.30pm if you are unsure as to whether the club will go ahead.

For security reasons, please collect your child from the Front Reception. In the event that you are happy for your child to walk home alone at the end of a club, please send a letter to the office confirming that this is what you would like to happen. We will make sure any children going to Wingbats are collected by a member of Wingbats staff. The child must inform the Wingbats’ supervisor if they are staying to a junior after School Club. If your child is interested in joining a club you should complete the attached form and return to the Office byTuesday 15 September. Confirmation of being accepted into a club will follow prior to the start of the club.
School Run Clubs will start in the week beginning Monday 21 September. Please ensure that your child is collected promptly at the end of their club.
